TradFolk in the Lodge, 10th - 12th May 2013, Wiston Lodge, near Biggar "Food fantastic, atmosphere great, surroundings brilliant." Guest Tutor I'm delighted that George Ormiston will be the guest tutor this year. As well as being a renowned flute maker George is an excellent player, with a diverse range of influences and repertoire. Along with delivering a workshop focusing on Scottish music he will also lead a discussion on the history of the flute in Scottish music, going back to its roots before the folk revival. There will also be time for a presentation on flute maintenance and a brief look at the building process. I'm sure George's input will be very interesting and a great addition to the weekend. Cost: Fully inclusive: Early bird (book by 31st March) £165 / Standard £185 Our fully inclusive package includes all workshops, accommodation, meals and activities. Non residential: Early bird (book by 31st March) £120 / Standard £140 TradFolk in the Park, 24th August 2013, Mugdock Country Park For the 2013 TradFolk programme we've included some extra day events alongside our annual residential event at Wiston Lodge. We were keen to ensure that the additional events were more than just some extra workshops. A residential weekend by definition has to involve time to relax, eat and socialise. We’ve tried to incorporate these elements into each of the day workshops, whilst attempting to give them a unique flavour of their own.On 24th August we will utilise the beautiful theatre in Mugdock Country Park to host TradFolk in the Park, which will feature an intimate recital from flute/fiddle duet Patricia McArdle & Roisin Anne Hughes, who came 2nd in the Senior Duet competition at Fleadh Cheoil na h’Eireann 2012. Of course the day will also feature workshops, sessions, a group meal, and a bit of time for a (non-compulsory!) walk around this beautiful country park if it's a nice day. We realise Mugdock Country Park is a little out of the way in terms of public transport, but don't let that put you off. We endeavor to do what we can to assist transport, through lift shares or co-ordinated taxi's. Milngavie station is only about 5-10 mins from Mugdock. The last train back to Glasgow is at 22.42 so you'll be able to enjoy all of the session! 10-4pm Workshops 4pm Slow session 6pm Group Meal 7.30pm Patricia McArdle & Roisin Anne Hughes in concert 8.30pm Session Cost: £40 TradFolk West, 23rd November 2013, Glasgow More info to follow More info will be posted here soon.
